It’s a big wide world out there, and with heaps of information available, knowing where to start can be a minefield.

Searching online has its advantages – you get access to huge amounts of information all at the click of your mouse, you can search using multiple terms, and refine your searches in many wonderful ways. Sometimes all you need is a little help to get started, so we’ve included some of our favourites to get you on your way.

Google is the world’s most popular search engine and one of our top picks. It’s a great staring point for finding whatever you need on the web.

Search engines

A search engine is a website that searches other websites for specific keywords, returning a list where those keywords were found. Essentially, it helps you find stuff on the net.
Simply enter some words that relate to your search, or even just a straight question.

People and places
